Day trips and Excursions

Some of our courses include excursions. These are guided trips to local places of cultural, scenic, historical and archaeological interest. Examples of some half day excursions are:

The Cliffs of Moher
The Burren
Bunratty Castle and Folk Park
Kilmacduagh Monastic site
Craggaunowen Bronze Age Lake Dwelling
Poulnabrone Dolmen
Knappogue and Dysert O'Dea Castles
The Ailwee Caves

We also visit places of literary interest including Thoor Ballylee, the home of the famous poet W.B. Yeats.
The area where we are situated is also perfect for walking and if a group is interested and the weather is right, this can be arranged as an afternoon excursion.
Of course not every student is a "culture vulture", so visits to cities such as Galway and Limerick are included in our excursions programme. For the active student there is the opportunity to go swimming, surfing, bowling, playing pitch and putt (a kind of mini-golf), horse riding, or playing golf.
As part of our Summer Course we arrange an all day excursion on the middle Saturday. These include trips to North Clare, West Clare, East Clare, Galway, Connemara, Birr Castle in County Offaly.
We have a free excursion for all students on the August Bank Holiday Monday - which is the 1st Monday in August. We depart from the school at 9.30 am and return at 5.30 p.m. Clare is situated perfectly for excursions and with some of the most stunning scenery in the country, it is no wonder that people return to this majestic county.
