Clare Language Centre is a fully accredited college for the training of people who want to teach English as a Foreign Language. All our certificates are awarded by the Advisory Council of English Language Schools who are the body established by the Irish Government Department of Education and Science to assure the quality of the TEFL industry within Ireland. These TEFL certificates are the only ones being offered in Ireland which are 100% guaranteed to be accepted in all schools, both in Ireland and internationally. There are cheaper TEFL qualifications available, but none which have the same guarantee of quality and international recognition.

For individuals who don’t have a recognised teaching qualification we offer the Certificate in English Language Teaching (CELT). The CELT is a 120 hour course and involves six hours of observed & graded teaching practice. This course is not only ideal for someone wishing to travel or pursue a career with a private language school, but also for anybody who is interested in teaching and wants to gain a good understanding of whether it will be a suitable career path. Graduates from this course have gone on to find teaching work throughout Ireland and countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Germany, South Korea, Japan and the U.A.E. International demand for CELT graduates remains very strong and from the last courses we have run there has been a 100% employment success rate for those able to travel and work in a foreign country. The CELT is offered as a five week full-time course and a part-time course. The full ACELS certificate is only available to those applicants who hold an ordinary degree or equivalent, however the course is open to everybody and a full certificate from MEI/Relsa is available for all applicants. Applicants for whom English is a second language are completely welcome on the course but proof of English proficiency must be provided.
